HARV'S REVIEW
Not too much to say about this card...that everyone doesn't already know. So, I'll just reiterate it's highlights.
At a cost of 800 LP each, you and your opponent can both negate the Special summon of monsters. Royal Oppression can not be activated in the Damage Step, which allows for monsters like Hydrogeddon, Blue Thunder T-45, Giant Rat, etc (monsters that Special Summon other monsters during the Damage Step)...to squeeze past it. This card comes with a new ruling now...that being: Continuous Trap cards with Ignition-like effects can now be activated in response to a Special Summon (they could be activated previously, but only if Royal Oppression was already in play before the likes of a Dark Armed Dragon hit the field). This new-ish ruling, of course, has made this card considerably more powerful.
So...
It's a great card mained if "searcher" monsters are your thang'...It's a great card mained if your running very few (if any) Special Summon monsters...It's a great side deck card, for obvious reasons, after seeing what your playing against...did I mention it's a great card? LoL.
Searcher Deck - 10/10
Deck with no, or few, Special Summons - 7-8/10
Side Deck - 7-9/10
Art - 3/10 (you know...some peasants being royally oppressed. Fitting...but "blah".)

CHARLIE'S REVIEW
Today we have a very good card for this format, Royal Oppression. Royal Oppression is a Continuous Trap card. It is great in decks that do not special summon alot like Little City, Stun, Monarchs, and Gadgets.
This cards effect is really amazing in the right deck. It can let you negate special summons for a measily cost of 800 life points. That is barely anything in this format. All the best decks special summon non-stop, this card can shut them down, given they do not have a way to get rid of it. Your opponent can use this too, but it wouldn't really matter much since the ideal decks to play Royal Oppression in do not special summon.
The rulings on this card make this able to be chained to a special summon and negate it right of the back. This basically makes it a counter trap that is not a counter trap. This card basically says no to Gladiator Beasts, Judgment Dragon, Wulf Lightsworn Beast, Lumina Lightsworn Summoner, Zombie Master, Dark Armed Dragon, Cyber Dragon, Synchros, Monster Reborn, Destiny Hero Malicious, and more. Thats a huge chunk of beefy decktypes. It cannot stop stuff like Giant Rat in the damege step though.
Using this card limits your opponents options, and gives them -1's in card advantage. Dust Tornado, Mystical Space Typhoon, and Heavy Storm eat this card for lunch, but isn't that what Solemn Judgment is for? I say its a must have in any deck that does not special summon at all. Even if you do slightly it still can be very good, like if you maindeck Gravekeeper's Spys. Those can go off during the damege step anyways so who cares? 800 life points is nothing for such a powerful effect.
Monarch Decks and their Variants 9.5/10
Gadgets 9.5/10
Little City 10/10
Stun AKA Middle City 10/10
Side Deck Choice 8.5/10
Teched in random decks 5/10 Chances are it will probably clash with something since it will probably special summon.
Royal Oppression Art 5/10 It looks rather uninteresting. _________________
