Lord Of The Rings Online is running a special pricing promotion through 31 January 2008. It is a 3 month at a time pricing plan that = $9.99/month. Billed as $29.97 every three months for as long as you maintain an active account. Not quite as good as the one time $199.00 lifetime fee, but still a pretty good deal.

I've been playing the game since Beta and I've found it to be a lot of fun. I've been running 5 different characters and each is uniquely different. It won't be for everyone though.

Upsides:
It has great graphics, a lot of good solo content and a lot of good Fellowship (grouping) content. Very good stories for quests. Great housing. Unique classes.

Downsides:
If you like PvP (Player vs. Player), then it definitely won't be a game that you would want to play. Player creation is not as good as City Of Heroes. And crafting is not on par with Star Wars Galaxies. May be a tad tough on older graphics cards.
